Summary
The chapter opens with a deep bond between Jonathan and David, leading to a covenant that includes the sharing of Jonathan’s armor and sword. David quickly proves himself a competent leader, leading Saul’s troops and gaining widespread approval. Despite his success, Saul becomes jealous and tries to eliminate David, even attempting to use a javelin against him. Saul’s fear of David grows, prompting him to offer David a royal marriage as a trap, but David resists.
