Summary
In this chapter, Ezekiel is guided by a divine presence to a gate facing east, where the glory of God manifests as a flood of light and sound. God declares that His throne will be in Israel forever and admonishes the people for their idolatry and desecration of holy places. He commands the prophet to show the people the true design and law of the temple so they may understand and keep it. Detailed measurements for the altar are given in cubits, specifying dimensions of the altar, the stone slabs, and its horns. The chapter outlines a cleansing ritual involving a sin offering bullock, a goat, and a ram, with blood applied to the altar’s corners and horns, followed by burning the offering outside the sanctuary. Seven days of purification are required before normal sacrifices resume, after which God will accept the offerings. The vision concludes with a promise of God’s eternal presence and acceptance of Israel’s renewed worship.
